Varanasi and Varanasi Airport

We cleaned up and then went out to the Ganges. There was a nice light show right on the river. It was more crowded than any other tourist spot we had been too. Once we fought our way back to the car we went back to the hotel freshened up and went to the mall next door. Nothing special and it was pretty small. We decided on dinner at a place called Mirachi on the top floor. It was pretty cheap and pretty good. Off to bed as it was not 10:00 PM and we need to be out the door @ 8:30 AM, or so we thought.

After dropping off our uncle, a sad affair, we rushed off to the airport for our 10:45 AM flight. We arrive at @ 9:45 and are informed the flight isn’t until 2:00 PM. The airport is too far away from the main city so in the airport we wait. The Varanasi airport is about as big as Sacramento Executive airport with as much to do. We are also maybe 4 of 8 passengers and about 12 workers in the whole place. So here we sit…..

You may have heard stories about Indian toilets well Priyanka helped make all of those come true. Priyanka decided she needed to go poop about 30 minutes into our wonderful 4+ hour wait in the world's smallest International Airport. Apparently the main bathroom was closed due to lightbulb changing so Vatsala was escorted to the "other" bathroom. I believe she said this consisted of two or three Indian style toilets. For those not familiar here I have included a picture (not the actual toilet). From what I hear it was about as clean as the one shown and Priyanka, as usual, had to touch everything in the place. On top of this she did not go. Vatsala then took her back to the Western toilet that was now open and still no luck. About 30 minutes later she needed to go again. No luck. About another 30 minutes later another attempt was made, this time to both toilets. Luckily for Vatsala and Priyanka they were well known and were given VIP treatment. Oh yeah, this time there was some favors left in the toilet that made Vatsala almost lose it. Needless to say some threats were made under the breath and no more attempts were made to the toilet.

We finally boarded the plane about 30 minutes later than "scheduled" and we finally arrived in Mumbai. Oh still no Number 2 for Priyanka!!!!

Well, your trip to India wouldn't have been complete without at least one toilet story. Good thing it wasn't too traumatic.
